Sam & Hayley | Tulum Mexico Wedding Photography

Where to even begin on this wedding? I have been friends with Sam and Hayley for quite some time. We used to be co-workers at Tim Hortons! These two have been talking about getting married for what seems like forever, and they always joked that they would hire me as their photographer. Well, all jokes aside, these beautiful ladies finally decided to tie the knot, and at the gorgeous Bahia Principe resort in Mexico for that matter!

I was so excited to be able to attend this wedding, let alone to shoot it. Even the week leading up to the wedding was nothing short of amazing. I spent the week on the resort with friends and family of the brides. There was also a private catamaran tour with all the wedding guests, many delicious meals, tons of time swimming in the ocean and enjoying the amazing beaches and views that Quintana Roo has to offer!

The Wedding

On the wedding day, we started off the day heading off resort for hair and makeup, to Beso Brides. When we arrived at Michael and Martina’s home, we were all totally blown away. This couple have an incredibly modern home in Mexico, and were so inviting to us! The girls spent the morning there, feeling right at home.

After hair and makeup were complete, we headed back to the resort where the ceremony took place at the Tulum Gazebo. Friends and family gathered on the beach and enjoyed this sweet couple’s commitment to each other. Waves crashed in the background and the sun shone brightly.

After the ceremony, we explored the resort for photos, and headed back to a restaurant on resort for dinner. To end the night, there was an incredible dance party on the beach, topped off with a full moon, and even a fire show to cap off the night!

Sam and Hayley, I cannot thank you two enough for allowing me to play a small role in your AMAZING day! Thank you so much and being such incredible human beings. I am so happy that you have found each other, and wish you all the happiness in the world!

Lisa & Joe | Windsor Wedding Photography

Lisa & Joe | Windsor Wedding Photography

One thing I absolutely love about what I do, is the opportunity to capture a wedding of someone who I know personally! Lisa has been basically a part of my family since I can remember, being the best friend of my older sister. Lisa and Dani go way back (to denim jeans and embarrassing bowl cuts: see photo). These two have come a long way since those days. What a special bond to be able to call someone your best friend for over 20 years!

The Wedding

Lisa and Joe were married on a crisp winter day in December, and truly made their wedding day their own. From the 13 bridesmaids, to a gorgeous intimate ceremony and topped off with a huge party, this non-traditional wedding was right up my alley.  The family-only ceremony was held at “April’s garden” at the Hospice of Windsor, a beautiful memorial to the mother of the bride. After the ceremony, we headed over to the Art Gallery of Windsor for photos. I may be biased, but the view of the Detroit skyline is just unmatched! Lisa’s choice of attire also looked beautiful with the skyline as a backdrop.

As the daylight started to fade, we headed over to the beautiful Mastronadri winery for the reception. In addition to the gorgeous venue, the decor and lighting were beautiful! Dinner was followed by speeches, and Lisa and Joe’s guests danced the night away!

Lisa and Joe: I could not be happier to have played a small role in your amazing day. The two of you were so clearly made for each other! Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness together 🙂

Also, just a small disclaimer: I had a really hard time choosing my favourites from this wedding… Here are a whole lot of my favourite moments from Lisa and Joe’s beautiful winter wedding! Sorry for the overflow!

Meek Family | Windsor Family Session

Meek Family | Windsor Family Session

You may remember the Meek’s from a few different milestone shoots over the past couple years. Andrew and Salina have been a regular feature here on my blog, and I could not have been happier to meet the newest member of their family, sweet little Elliotte! I arrived at their home to begin their Windsor family session.

We started off the shoot in their backyard, and continued along to the beautiful Willistead Park in Windsor. I’ve known Andrew and Salina a long time, and I have to say that these two were clearly made to be parents. It was so amazing to see how easily these two have slipped into parenthood; they both seemed totally comfortable and at ease.

Elliotte was an absolute doll for our entire shoot. See below for a few of my favourites from our time together!

Jantzi Family | Cambridge Maternity Photography

Jantzi Family | Cambridge Maternity Photography

The Jantzi family are becoming a bit of a staple here on my blog! From weddings to family shoots and everything in between, I have been lucky enough to capture so many milestones for Meagan and Nathan. I was so excited when they asked me to photograph their Cambridge maternity shoot for their growing family.

Meagan and I used to work together, and I have been so lucky to follow along with her adorable family.

While wandering around Riverside Park in Cambridge, it was clear that Spring is finally here. Things were looking greener than ever alongside cute pink outfits for the whole family. Big sister Aubree wasn’t too sure about having her photo taken, which turned out to be super adorable anyways!

Here are a few of my favourites of this growing family, as they await their newest arrival. Can’t wait to meet her!

Dog Sledding Adventure | Chocpaw Expeditions

Adventure and camping have always been favourite pastimes of mine. While my regular camping trips normally include hiking, canoeing, and the beach at sunset, winter camping is something I have never had the pleasure of taking part in. Well, back in January, all that changed! I was lucky enough to receive a surprise dog sledding trip for my birthday with Chocpaw Expeditions in the Algonquin area. What an incredible interactive adventure!

Upon arrival at the kennel, 300+ super excited (and adorable) Alaskan Huskies greeted us with loud barking! These beautiful and friendly dogs clearly couldn’t wait to get harnessed up and ready to go! We helped harness up all of the dogs heading out on expedition that day. Once the dogs were ready to go, and our sleds were loaded up, they were off to the races! There is no question that these dogs are born to run. The excitement of the dogs was palpable.

Two people shared each sled. Getting used to the sled was less difficult than I’d imagined; what was more difficult was hopping on and off the moving sled as the passenger! It didn’t take too long to learn to lean and hop on and off to run and help the team of dogs haul our gear up hills.

Our team of 6 dogs were just incredible. When we stopped for lunch, we literally had to overturn our sleds so that these beauties wouldn’t take off!

Camp

We made it to our camp for the night after a few snowy hours. The campground boasted a beautiful view over a nearby lake and a canvas tent.

After we got the dogs off their harnesses and onto their lines for the night, it was time to get to work! First we went down to the lake to chip out a hole for water. Next onto feeding the dogs and making straw beds for them. The last chore was heading out to find some trees to chop down for fire wood. We made dinner for ourselves after all the chores were completed. Our incredible guide Heather was so helpful and knowledgeable, not to mention so sweet to the dogs.

After dinner, we got a nice fire going, and enjoyed the silence of the woods. There is nothing quite like the silence of nature in the winter. When we were ready to turn in for the night, I was so grateful to see that Heather had been stoking the wood stoves in the tent to ensure we had a warm and comfortable sleep.

The next morning we woke up to a perfectly clear day. We spent some time with the dogs, ate some breakfast, and took a walk out to the lake to explore the surroundings a bit. What a beautiful place! Soon enough we were back on the sleds with our amazing teams, heading back to the kennel. We ended our trip with an excellent home cooked meal back at the base camp.

I can’t recommend this adventure enough. From the warm and friendly guides and staff, to the amazing and well-treated dogs, great food and gorgeous surroundings. I urge you to check out Chocpaw Expeditions for your next winter getaway! And a special thanks to our guide, Heather for all of your incredible hard work to make our trip the best it could possibly be!
