Guelph Engagement Session

Spring is finally here, and with it, Wedding season! It’s been a long, cold winter, and I’ve never felt more ready to get back at it. This Guelph engagement session was the perfect thing to break the ice!

Natasha & Steve are getting married this upcoming August, and decided to take some photos in a few locations around Guelph, the city where they both attended school. We had a great time exploring around the city, checking out all the blooming flowers.

After spending such a lovely day with the couple, I’m getting excited for the wedding!

In conclusion, here are a few of my favourites from our Engagement session.

Jo 🙂

West Coast Trip 2016

“The mountains are calling, and I must go” – John Muir

A few months ago, my friend Karley and I decided we wanted to take a trip to the west coast. Beyond the ever-present craving for fresh mountain air, we have so many friends from University to visit from Calgary to Victoria, and everywhere in between! When our friend Alex decided to tag along at the last minute, we knew it would definitely be a trip to remember.

Our first stop was Calgary. After a few nights exploring the city, we made our way to Banff and Lake Louise, where I got to visit with some family and a few of Karley’s friends came down from Edmonton to visit for the weekend.

An incredibly scenic drive through Kananaskis Country brought us back to Calgary, where we caught a flight out to Vancouver. From there, we took the ferry over to Vancouver Island, spending a couple days hiking and exploring in the rain forest. Next we headed to Whistler for a couple days of shredding… and the most powder I’ve ever seen.

The final leg of our trip brought us back to Vancouver, where we spent an incredible few days visiting friends and drinking delicious craft beers.

What an amazing trip to help get through the end of winter. Here’s hoping Spring is right around the corner 🙂

Niah & Zoe | Child Photography

Back in November, Amanda & Andy welcomed a beautiful new baby girl into their family. A few weeks after Niah’s entrance to the world (see here), I was lucky enough to stop by for a few photos of Niah and her proud big sister Zoe.

See below for a few of my favourite shots of these two cuties 🙂

Home Birth | Cambridge Birth Photography

When Amanda first approached me about photographing her home birth, I won’t lie, I was a little intimidated. Not only had I never witnessed a birth, but birth photography was something new to me as well! Though it was a new concept to me, it was also very exciting and interesting.

Her husband Andy called me around 3:30am, letting me know that Amanda was in labour. In the 30 minutes it took me to arrive, baby Niah was born! Although I did miss the birth itself, I was able to stick around and capture some of her first moments in the world.

Along with her wonderful team of midwives, Amanda had her husband, Mom, and sister by her side for her home birth. Niah’s big sister Zoe slept through the whole thing, and was excited to see that “Mommy had a baby!” when she woke up.

Being able to witness a home birth was really incredible for me. I am so happy that I live in a time where women are educated about options available to them at birth, opening up new opportunities for people like me who are interested in photographing many new things.

Here are a few of my favourite moments from this incredible experience.

Jocelyn & Mike | Ellis Chapel, Puslinch Wedding Photography

Autumn weddings are the BEST! Even better are couples who are willing to embrace rainy weather and brave the elements for some outdoor photos. Jocelyn and Mike were that couple, and the amazing colours and cooler weather made for a perfect combo on their day.

Jocelyn and Mike were married at the quaint Ellis Chapel in Puslinch, Ontario.

Here are a few of my favourites from their wedding day.
